How is the cooperative governed?
We are governed by a Board of Directors. These are fellow members who live within our service territory and are elected by the membership at our Annual Meeting. The board sets the strategic direction, approves the budget, and ensures the cooperative remains financially stable.
-
Does my bill pay for these community programs?
Most of our community funding, like Operation Round Up, is voluntary. These programs are funded by small change rounded up from members’ bills or through unclaimed capital credits as allowed by state law, rather than through your monthly energy rates.

What is the Annual Meeting?
The Annual Meeting is a gathering of the membership held once a year. It is where we report on the financial health of the cooperative, announce board election results, and discuss future projects. It is the best way for you to exercise your right as an owner and stay informed.

What are Capital Credits?
Capital Credits are the primary financial benefit of being a member. Because we are a non-profit, any “margins” (profits) are assigned to members based on how much electricity they purchased during the year. We hold this money as equity to build and maintain the grid, and we return it to members as “retirements” when the board determines the cooperative is in a strong enough financial position to do so.
