A severe storm warning is currently in effect for our service area. Our crews are on standby and ready to respond to any power interruptions. Please stay away from downed power lines and report outages through our mobile app or by calling our 24/7 emergency line. High winds and heavy rain are forecasted for this evening. While we strive for 100% reliability, please ensure your devices are charged and your emergency kits are accessible. You can track real-time restoration progress on our Live Outage Map.
More than just a utility. We are a member-owned cooperative dedicated to improving the quality of life for those we serve.
The Cooperative Difference
Unlike investor-owned utilities that prioritize profits for out-of-state stockholders, we are owned by the people we serve. When you sign up for service, you become a member and an owner.
Our “profits” (called margins) don’t go to Wall Street. They are reinvested into the grid to keep rates stable or returned to you in the form of Capital Credits.
Our Mission
“To provide safe, reliable, and affordable energy solutions while enhancing the lives of our members and supporting the communities we call home.”
The 7 Cooperative Principles
We operate according to a core set of principles that have guided cooperatives worldwide for over a century.
1. Voluntary MembershipOpen to all persons able to use our services.
2. Democratic ControlOne member, one vote. You elect our Board.
3. Economic ParticipationMembers contribute equitably to the capital.
4. AutonomySelf-reliant organizations controlled by members.
5. Education & TrainingInforming members and the public about energy.
6. CooperationWorking with other co-ops to strengthen the movement.
7. Community ConcernInvesting in local development and programs.
Democratic Governance
Our cooperative is governed by a Board of Directors. These are not professional politicians or distant executives—they are fellow members who live on our lines. They are elected by you at our Annual Meeting to set policy, approve budgets, and ensure the long-term health of the cooperative.

Frequently Asked Questions
We are governed by a Board of Directors. These are fellow members who live within our service territory and are elected by the membership at our Annual Meeting. The board sets the strategic direction, approves the budget, and ensures the cooperative remains financially stable.
Most of our community funding, like Operation Round Up, is voluntary. These programs are funded by small change rounded up from members’ bills or through unclaimed capital credits as allowed by state law, rather than through your monthly energy rates.
The Annual Meeting is a gathering of the membership held once a year. It is where we report on the financial health of the cooperative, announce board election results, and discuss future projects. It is the best way for you to exercise your right as an owner and stay informed.
Capital Credits are the primary financial benefit of being a member. Because we are a non-profit, any “margins” (profits) are assigned to members based on how much electricity they purchased during the year. We hold this money as equity to build and maintain the grid, and we return it to members as “retirements” when the board determines the cooperative is in a strong enough financial position to do so.
Unlike a traditional utility owned by investors or a city-owned utility, a cooperative is owned by its members. We operate on a non-profit basis. Any revenue left over after our bills are paid is allocated back to our members, rather than to distant stockholders on Wall Street.
You do! Every person or business that receives electric service from us is a member-owner. This entitles you to a vote in our board elections and a share in the cooperative’s equity.
An Electric Power Company generates, transmits, and distributes electricity to residential, commercial, and industrial customers. They are responsible for ensuring a stable power supply, maintaining infrastructure like power plants, transmission lines, and substations, and managing energy distribution to homes and businesses.
