Outage Prevention & Reliability
Our Commitment to Reliability
The best outage is the one that never happens.
How We Prevent Outages
Maintaining a reliable electric grid requires constant vigilance. Here is how your cooperative works year-round to keep your power consistent and your rates stable.
Vegetation Management (Right-of-Way)
Falling trees and overgrown branches are the #1 cause of outages. We employ a 4-year trim cycle to ensure lines remain clear of debris. By maintaining a clear “Right-of-Way,” we prevent 70% of potential blue-sky outages.
Infrastructure Inspection
We use infrared thermography and drone inspections to find “hot spots” on transformers and insulators before they fail. This predictive maintenance allows us to replace aging equipment during scheduled windows rather than emergency midnight repairs.
Grid Hardening & Sectionalizing
We are installing “Reclosers”—smart switches that act like circuit breakers for the main line. If a branch hits a wire, the recloser can “blink” the power to clear the fault, often preventing a full blackout for thousands of members.
Your Role in Reliability
You can help us prevent outages! If you see a tree leaning dangerously toward a line or a cracked insulator on a pole, please report it to our engineering department.Submit a Reliability Report
