Restoration & Crisis Response
Our process for bringing the lights back on safely and efficiently
The Restoration Priority Sequence
When a major storm hits, we don’t just fix outages as they are reported. We follow a specific, industry-standard sequence to restore the greatest number of members in the shortest amount of time.
1. Substations
We start at the source. If the substation is damaged, no one downstream will have power.
2. Main Distribution Lines
These lines carry power to large groups of members and critical infrastructure like hospitals.
3. Tap Lines & Transformers
Once main lines are hot, we move to the lines serving neighborhoods and individual streets.
Why is my neighbor’s power on, but mine is off?
This is one of our most frequent questions. It usually happens for three reasons:
- Your home is on a different circuit or transformer.
- The service wire leading specifically to your home is damaged.
- Your main breaker or fuse box has tripped due to a surge.
Reporting a Downed Line
Never approach a downed line. Assume it is energized. Keep children and pets at least 40 feet away.Call Dispatch: (800) 555-0199
